(ECNS) -- A more than 1,000-step spiral staircases hugging a cliff have opened to tourists here.
Each steel stairway, with anti-skid tread, is fixed to a huge cylinder with surrounding guardrails.
These spiral stairs curl around each cylinder at 4,500 degrees from bottom to top.
More than a tourist attraction, these stairways shorten the journey from one hour to less than 10 minutes for over 2,000 local villagers who grow wine grapes at the foot of the cliff.
