(ECNS) -- Fran?ois' langurs in the Mayanghe National Nature Reserve in Tongren, Guizhou Province have given birth to six cubs since December 2020, among which 4 cubs were delivered by the same population, which is very rare.
As the first-class protected animal in China, Fran?ois' langur is also on the list of endangered species of International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).
The species, with about 2,000 in the world, is mainly distributed across Vietnam and China's Guizhou, Guangxi and Chongqing, among which about 1,500 live in China.
A 6-month-old Fran?ois' langur cub is golden yellow. Its fur will gradually turn black as it grows up.
At present, there are 72 populations of about 544 Fran?ois' langurs in the Mayanghe National Nature Reserve.
In recent years, with protection measures taken in the reserve, the population of this species is increasing year by year.
