(ECNS) -- East Lake Cherry Blossom Park in Wuhan, Hubei Province will be open at night starting Wednesday.
Covering an area of 28.2 hectares, the park boasts a vast expanse of 10,000 cherry trees of 60 varieties.
Wu Yanfang and Wu Lijun, two sisters from Guangdong Province, came to Wuhan by high-speed train to view the cherry blossoms.
Wan Qiong, a Wuhan local, came with her colleagues to enjoy the cherry blossoms to make up for "the regret of last year" imposed by the coronavirus outbreak.
In the long corridor of the cherry park, pictures of more than 120 medical rescue teams and more than 40,000 front-line medical workers who came to Wuhan last spring to fight the coronavirus are displayed under the cherry trees.
Local citizen Wu Shan stopped at the display board for a long time, saying that now the cherry blossoms are in bloom, she hopes those medical heroes would visit Wuhan again.
This year, there are more than 9,000 night light sets and 500 lanterns in the cherry blossom garden, nearly doubling the lit area compared to last year.
