(ECNS) -- The Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical Radio Telescope (FAST),
known as China's "Sky Eye," will officially open to international scientists.
Starting on April 1, scientists across the world can submit their research proposals online, said Jiang Peng, FAST's chief engineer.
Observation periods will be distributed across various research projects starting from Aug. 1.
About 10 percent of the observation time will be allocated to foreign scientists during the first year.
FAST has identified over 240 pulsars so far and more than 40 high-quality papers have been published based on its data.
