(ECNS) -- Over 420,000 mu (28,000 hectares) of apples have entered harvest season in Aksu Prefecture.
Aksu apples have become highly sought-after on the Chinese and foreign markets.
Aksu's total output of apples last year was about 688,800 tons.
Its total area of fruit-bearing apple orchards was about 22,260 hectares.
Official data showed that revenues from the forest and fruit industries account for about one-third of local residents' total incomes.
