(ECNS)--Supported by 3D printing tech, a full-size reproduced cave from Yungang Grottoes is expected to debut at a Zhejiang Province museum soon.

Based on the original Cave No. 12, or 'Cave of Music,' the replicated grotto consists of over 1,300 printed modules.

The exhibit, 14 meters long, 12 meters wide and nine meters high, is the latest integration between technology and heritage protection.

It is made of light materials and can be dismantled and pieced together like building blocks.

It took around 3 years to complete the project, including data collection and processing, 3D printing of modules and coloring.

Yungang Grottoes in Datong, north China's Shanxi Province, boasting 45 major caves and over 59,000 statues, were inscribed onto the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage list in 2001.
