(ECNS)--The large flying fox (Pteropus vampyrus), also known as the Malayan flying fox, is inhabiting the Guangzhou Chimelong Safari Park for the first time.

The foxes, which are among the largest species of bat, weigh 0.65–1.1 kg each and have a wingspan of up to 1.5 meters. They are attracting many visitors to the park.

A recent update by the International Union for Conservation of Nature listed the species as Near Threatened.
