The 27th Northeast Asia Cooperation Dialogue (NEACD) was held in Singapore this week and the top nuclear envoys of South Korea, the United States and Japan met Wednesday to discuss possible countermeasures following the DPRK's test-firing an intercontinental ballistic missile last week.
NEACD is seeking to reduce the risk of military conflict in the region and to lay the groundwork for an official multilateral process in Northeast Asia.
On July 4, the DPRK tested an intercontinental ballistic missile that Pyongyang claims can carry a large nuclear warhead.
Some experts believe the projectile has the range to reach Alaska.
Participants at the dialogue also discussed US President Donald Trump and South Korean President Moon Jae-in's roles in this issue.
Defense and deterrence were touched upon and how best to manage the security dilemma facing the region was also discussed during their meeting, according to CGTN correspondent Miro Lu.
