    Chinatowns in America first emerged in the late 1800s with Chinese migration. They were areas where Chinese immigrants could find people who spoke the same language, cook the same food and help them to acclimate to their new world. Many of these Chinatowns still exists today and plays an important role for new arrivals, but many are under threats of urban development.
