While phones made by the U.S.' iconic brand Apple have swamped the Chinese market, now China's homegrown smartphone makers are stepping up their game in the U.S..
Sensing a business opportunity, the U.S.-based carrier U.S. Mobile said it would import a range of Xiaomi handsets from China and sell them online from this week. Xiaomi, now China's most popular smartphone brand, however, has distanced itself from the move. The company released a statement saying U.S. Mobile is not an authorized distributor for Xiaomi.
It's looking like the move is a unilateral one on the part of the eager U.S. carrier, though Xiaomi CEO Leijun had previously expressed his desire to enter the U.S. smartphone market.
