The number of Chinese tourists entering Vietnam via its northern Mong Cai international border gate has gone up sharply in the past two weeks, according to local statistics on Tuesday.
In the past two weeks, each day, Mong Cai border gate in Vietnam's northern Quang Ninh Province has welcomed some 10,000 person-times of Chinese entries, compared to the monthly figure of some 5,000 person-times in the past, Tien Phong (Pioneer) online newspaper reported Tuesday.
Local travel agents attributed the sudden rise to South Korea's deployment of the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD).
