The Hong Kong police confirmed Sunday evening that Joshua Wong Chi-fung, leader of a Hong Kong political group advocating "independence," had been taken away by the police for breaching bail conditions as he was about to depart from the Hong Kong International Airport.
The police received report at around 8:10 a.m. (local time) on Sunday that the 22-year-old man was about to depart from the airport, and then took him away, the police told Xinhua.
He is suspected of breaching the court's bail conditions, and is scheduled to appear in court on Monday.
Wong was arrested on Aug. 30 in connection with the besiege of the police headquarters on June 21, and was charged with the offenses of inciting others to participate in unauthorized gatherings, organizing unauthorized gatherings and knowingly participating in unauthorized gatherings.
He was later granted bail and was allowed to leave Hong Kong on certain dates for pre-arranged events.
