U.S. electric carmaker Tesla has recently applied for registration of a trademark for Tesla Bot Action Figure, under the classification of fitness equipment. The current status of the trademark is awaiting substantive examination, according to corporate information website Tianyancha.

The Tesla Bot Action Figure, described as "your mini autonomous assistant and humanoid friend," is a 1:10-scale collectable and playable figurine precision engineered with over 40 individual parts and 20 points of articulation to look - and move - like the Gen 2 humanoid robot. It is priced at $40 while it is currently out of stock, according to the carmaker's website.

The figure is 5.5 centimeters in width, 18.2 centimeters in height and weighs 48 grams, featuring more than 40 individual parts and 20 points of articulation, including a charging stand, cyber hammer with the bot figurine, per the description.

The Tesla Bot Action Figure was sold out in less than 24 hours since it went on sale in November, USA Today reported. The Global Times found out on Wednesday that the current sales prices of the figure on eBay roughly range from $100 to $300.

Tesla unveiled its Optimus prototype in September 2022, aiming to produce 1 billion units annually after mass production, the Xinhua News Agency reported in June.

Tesla's factories plan to deploy over 1,000, possibly even thousands, of humanoid robots next year. It hopes to expand the application of these robots to sectors like elderly care - a function that is becoming increasingly vital due to population aging in many countries, including China, per the report.

China has also been advancing technological development for robots, as it has become a global forerunner in terms of robot density, overtaking Germany and Japan to occupy the No.3 spot globally in the rankings of the use of robots in industry last year, according to an annual report released by the International Federation of Robotics in November. The 2023 list was led by South Korea, with Singapore coming in second.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk on Tuesday commented "Great work by Tesla China" on X, responding to a tweet saying that 21,900 new Teslas were insured in China last week, the second-best week of 2024 so far and the second-best week in the last two plus years.

Amid the growing sales in China, Tesla is set to roll out its V4 superchargers in the Chinese mainland in 2025, as the company is increasing its investment in the world's largest car market for greater development opportunities.
