Foreign Minister Wang Yi extended congratulations on Wednesday on the upcoming official opening of the Nauru embassy in Beijing, saying that China is willing to provide convenience and assistance for the embassy' s operation.
He made the remarks during a meeting with Nauru's Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade Lionel Aingimea in Beijing, who is in China to attend the event.
Since the resumption of diplomatic relations between China and Nauru in 2024, all-round and practical cooperation has brought tangible benefits to the people of Nauru, Wang said.
Beijing appreciates Nauru's firm adherence to the one-China policy and believes that Nauru will continue to support China in safeguarding sovereignty and territorial integrity, thus solidifying the political foundation of their relationship, he added.
Wang also expressed China's readiness to strengthen cooperation with Nauru in various fields such as agriculture, fisheries, sports, marine development, climate change response, and capacity building, opening up a brighter future for bilateral ties.
Highlighting the strong and fruitful relationship, Aingimea reaffirmed the commitment to the one-China principle and hoped to deepen cooperation in various fields to elevate bilateral relations to new heights.
He also thanked China for its valuable assistance in the country's infrastructure construction and economic and social development, which has contributed to improving people's livelihoods and promoting sustainable development in Nauru.
