At the invitation of Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Qin Gang, Japan's Minister for Foreign Affairs Yoshimasa Hayashi will visit China from April 1 to 2, foreign ministry spokesperson Mao Ning announced on Friday.
"China and Japan are neighbors who are important to each other. To maintain the sound and steady development of bilateral relations serves the common interests of the two countries and the region," Mao said at a daily news briefing when asked to introduce the visit.
Noting that China attaches great importance to Hayashi's visit, Mao said the Chinese leadership will meet with Hayashi and that Qin will hold talks with him to exchange in-depth views on bilateral relations, as well as international and regional issues of common concern.
Using the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries as strategic guidance, China is willing to work with Japan to take the opportunity of the 45th anniversary of the signing of the China-Japan Treaty of Peace and Friendship, to strengthen dialogue and communication, deepen practical cooperation, manage disputes and differences, and promote the building of constructive and stable China-Japan relations that meet the requirements of the new era, Mao added.
