Zhu Fenglian, a spokesperson for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, on Friday, slammed Taiwan's Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authority for playing political tricks by accusing the World Health Organization (WHO) and fabricating pandemic facts.
The DPP authority said that the WHO "refused" to act on Taiwan's health department message on December 31 about the possible human-to-human transmission of COVID-19.
Zhu said the DPP's claim is a fabrication of facts. The DPP's message itself didn't even mention "human-to-human transmission" and it cited information from Wuhan Municipal Health Commission.
The DPP's political intention is clear, Zhu said, stressing that as the WHO is a specialized UN agency composed of sovereign states, Taiwan's participation in the WHO and other international organizations needs to be arranged in a reasonable and appropriate manner after cross-strait consultations under the One-China principle.
