Japan's cabinet has approved a plan to remove South Korea from its trade "white list" on Friday.
The “whitelist” consists of 27 countries that have been given a preferential trade status when purchasing Japanese dual-use products.
If removed from the list, South Korea will have to undergo additional screening to ensure that the purchased items are not used to make weapons.
