A final decision has not yet been made on U.S. President Donald Trump's planned visit to Ireland, the White House said on Tuesday after Dublin reportedly announced the trip had been postponed.
"The president will travel to Paris in November as previously announced. We are still finalizing whether Ireland will be a stop on that trip," said White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders in a statement.
Sanders did not give any reason for the possible postponement for the trip, which could be Trump's first visit to Ireland as U.S. president.
Earlier on Tuesday, the Irish government has reportedly announced that Washington has postponed the planned tour, citing scheduling reasons.
The White House said in late August that Trump would pay a visit to Ireland as part of his Europe trip in November to attend the commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the armistice that ended the fighting in World War I.
The Ireland trip was expected to "renew the deep and historic ties," between the two countries, said the White House in a statement then.
It has been reported that a number of organizations planned to stage protests during Trump's visit.
