The Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) Eastern Theater Command said on Wednesday it resolutely opposes the USS John S. McCain guided-missile destroyer sailing through the Taiwan Straits and said it has tracked and monitored the warship's movements.
The U.S. move sent wrong signals to "Taiwan independence" forces and deliberately destabilized regional situation, said Senior Colonel Zhang Chunhui, spokesperson of the theater command.
