The U.S. trade deficit shrank to 49.4 billion U.S. dollars in February, down 3.4 percent month-on-month, data released Wednesday by the U.S. Department of Commerce showed.
The 1.7-billion-dollar decrease came with a year-over-year drop in the goods and services deficit of 8.3 billion dollars, or 7.6 percent, from February 2018.
The January deficit figure remained unchanged at 51.1 billion dollars after revision.
Exports rose to 209.7 billion dollars, a 2.3-billion-dollar increase from January, while imports reached 259.1 billion dollars, up 0.6 billion dollars from the previous month, the data showed.
