China's consumer price index (CPI), a main gauge of inflation, rose 2.3 percent year on year in August, compared with 2.1 percent for July, the National Bureau of Statistics said Monday.

China's producer price index (PPI), which measures costs for goods at the factory gate, rose 4.1 percent year on year in August, the National Bureau of Statistics said Monday.
The growth was down from the 4.6-percent rise in July.
