The total annual box office in the mainland reached 55,911 billion last year, an increase of 13.45 percent year on year. The domestic films’ overseas box office and sales revenue reached 4.253 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 11.19 percent.
A total of 9,597 additional screens were put in use last year, while the total number of screens has reached 50,776.
The film festival began on April 15.
