(ECNS) — When a woman fell into a river near Guxu Bridge in Sihong County, east China's Jiangsu Province, a dramatic rescue unfolded Sunday afternoon.
At 4:10 p.m., local police received an emergency call reporting a drowning incident. Responding swiftly, officer Cai Zihan led a team to the scene. On arrival, they found crowds gathered on the bridge, watching helplessly as a woman struggled in the river nearly 8 meters below.

"Quick, throw the life ring!" Cai shouted, grabbing the rescue gear even before the police car had come to a complete stop. His colleague, auxiliary officer Chen En, rushed to the riverbank below.
Amid the chaos, 49-year-old Liu Hongbo, a local fisherman nearby, leapt into the water.
By the time Chen reached the riverbank, Liu was already in the current, holding the woman up with a firm and steady grip.
"I can swim. I'm going in!" Chen called out, diving in with a life ring and swimming toward the pair.
From the moment Chen entered the water to the successful return of all three to shore, the entire rescue operation took just 75 seconds.
Authorities are now working to officially recognize Liu's bravery. Sihong police plan to nominate him for an award, praising his courage and the vital role of ordinary people who act in emergencies.
