(ECNS) -- The Ministry of Commerce of China (MOC) on Wednesday condemned U.S. warnings on the use of Chinese advanced computing chips, including those of Huawei Ascend, vowing to counter any "bullying" to maintain its legitimate interests.
The U.S. government recently issued guidance seeking to globally restrict the use of Chinese advanced computing chips under the pretext of alleged violations of export controls.
A MOC spokesperson said U.S. measures represent typical unilateral bullying and protectionist practices, severely undermining the stability of the global semiconductor industry and supply chains, and depriving other countries of their right to develop high-tech industries, including advanced computing chips and AI.
The U.S. has abused export controls to suppress and contain China, violating international law and the basic norms of international relations, severely infringing upon the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese enterprises, while undermining its development interests, the spokesperson stressed.
"Its measures constitute discriminatory restrictions against Chinese enterprises," the spokesperson said, adding that any organization or individual that implements or assists in implementing these U.S. measures may violate Chinese laws and regulations, including the Anti-Foreign Sanctions Law of China, and shall bear corresponding legal liabilities.
China urges the U.S. to correct its wrongdoing, abide by international trade rules, and respect other countries' rights to technological development, the spokesperson said.
"China supports global enterprises in conducting in-depth technological cooperation based on market principles, achieving mutual benefit and win-win outcomes, and jointly advancing technological innovation for the benefit of people worldwide," the spokesperson added.
