(ECNS) -- Significant breakthroughs driven by collaborative innovation in the machinery industry were achieved in a number of key homegrown technological equipment in 2024 , the China Machinery Industry Federation (CMIF) announced in Beijing on Friday.
China has made a milestone advancement with a domestically developed 300 Megawatt F-class heavy-duty gas turbine. The prototype has successfully completed assembly, ignition, and full-load testing. The turbine overcame over 90 critical technical challenges, making it the largest and most advanced gas turbine ever developed in China. This achievement is expected to significantly advance China’s gas turbine technology and contribute to both energy security and green development.
The world’s largest 26 Megawatt offshore wind turbine, with fully independent intellectual property rights, has rolled off the production line.
Key components, including the generator, blades, bearings, and electrical control systems, all meet global leading standards. This marks a major milestone in the rapid development of China’s entire wind power equipment supply chain.
China’s super-large diameter shield tunneling machines, "Shanhe" and "Jianghai", were put into operation. "Shanhe" is the world’s largest tunneling machine currently under construction, with a maximum excavation diameter of 17.5 meters and a total length of 163 meters. "Jianghai" is China’s largest domestically developed shield tunneling machine, with a diameter of 16.64 meters and a length of approximately 145 meters. These machines represent a breakthrough in China’s development of ultra-large diameter tunneling machines and highlight the country’s advanced capabilities in this field.
The Fangchenggang “Hualong One” nuclear power demonstration project has been fully completed, driving over 5,400 nuclear equipment manufacturers to achieve over 400 key equipment independent production milestones. This achievement ensures that China now has 100% domestic production capabilities for nuclear power units, significantly enhancing the resilience and strength of the country’s nuclear power industry.
China has successfully developed the world’s largest 600-horsepower hybrid tractor. This innovation breaks through key technological bottlenecks in farm machinery, such as power transmission and hydraulic electric control systems. It also integrates new energy vehicle technology into agricultural machinery, driving the upgrade of traditional farm equipment to intelligent machinery and promoting the transformation of agriculture from mechanization to intelligence.
The country has launched the world’s largest single-unit annual production project for propylene dehydrogenation, creating ten global and national firsts. The project features several innovative equipment solutions, including specialized valves, product gas compressors, 50 MW positive pressure explosion-proof motors, 169 MW air heating furnaces, and axial-flow pumps. These breakthroughs resolve critical "bottleneck" issues in the industry.
