(ECNS) -- The Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China, Ltd. (COMAC) has renamed its regional jetliner ARJ21 to C909, aligning with the company's C919 and C929 during a product launch at the 15th China International Aviation and Aerospace Exhibition, also known as Airshow China, in Zhuhai, south China's Guangdong Province on Tuesday.
Currently, the company has three types of aircraft - C909, C919 and C929. Since entering commercial operation in 2016, it has netted 150 C909 orders, safely carrying more than 17 million passengers.
The C909 aircraft features a variety of seating arrangements, including a 78-seat two-class layout, a 90-seat all-economy layout, and high-density economy layout with either 95 or 97 seats.
It has strong performance capabilities for takeoffs and landings on short and narrow runways, as well as in high-altitude, high-temperature, and high-wind conditions, making the aircraft well-suited for operation in China’s border regions as well as overseas areas like Southeast Asia and Africa.
The aircraft can fly on 50 percent Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), meeting the diverse needs of its customers.
The company indicated that it will continue to develop safer, more comfortable, and environmentally friendly commercial aircraft, contributing to the global air transport industry.
