It is also the first time in Asian Games history that a delegation has won more than 200 golds.

Chinese swimmers and table tennis players contributed the most at the Asian Games.

Chinese swimmer Zhang Yufei clinched six gold medals, in the women's 200m butterfly, women's 4x100m freestyle relay, men's and women's mixed 4x100m medley relay, women's 100m butterfly, women's 50m freestyle and women's 50m butterfly, respectively.

Swimmers Qin Haiyang, Xu Jiayu, and Li Bingjie won five gold medals each at the 19th Asian Games. Men's table tennis player Wang Chuqin won four gold medals and women's table tennis player Sun Yingsha won three.

Zhang Yufei and Qin Haiyang were jointly awarded Most Valuable Player of the Hangzhou Asian Games on Saturday.

In a video interview, Zhang expressed her immense honor to have won the MVP award at the Hangzhou Asian Games. She said the achievement had fulfilled her dream and promise, while extending her heartfelt gratitude to all those who had supported her.

Zhang emphasized that achieving her goals served as a tremendous source of encouragement, helping her build even more confidence, courage, and strength to continue her journey toward the Paris Olympics.

She said she had felt the ubiquitous enthusiasm of the audience and volunteers, along with the friendship of all Asian athletes.

The first time the Chinese delegation ranked first in the gold medal tally was at the New Delhi Asian Games in 1982, where it won 61 gold medals, beating Japan with 57.

At the 1990 Asian Games in Beijing, the Chinese delegation won 183 golds, exceeding 100 for the first time.
