(ECNS) -- China has seen a rebound of inbound and outbound traffic since Jan. 8 when it downgraded management of the disease from Class A to Class B, the National Immigration Administration said on Wednesday.
According to the administration's data, the country has logged 39.72 million entry and exit trips between Jan. 8 to March 7, a year-on-year increase of 112.4 percent, showing the revival in travel after COVID-19 restrictions were dismantled.
On Feb. 25, the number of entry and exit trips reached 1.013 million, exceeding one million for the first time since 2020.
The national immigration authorities issued a total of 3.362 million ordinary passports, 12.672 million endorsements for travel to and from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, and 122,000 visas and staying or resident certificates for foreigners, up by 1220.9, 837.7 and 33.1 percent respectively.
With the steady increase of international passenger flights and the full resumption of personnel exchanges between the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong and Macao since management of Class B of COVID-19, the entry and exit passenger flow and the number of applications for entry and exit certificates have rebounded sharply, said Lin Yongsheng, a spokesperson for the National Immigration Administration.
