Chinese skier killed in Austrian avalanche

(ECNS) -- A 32-year-old Chinese skier was found dead in an avalanche in Tyrol, western Austria, on Friday, which was confirmed by the Chinese Embassy in Austria on Sunday.

At least eight people have been killed in the avalanches in the Austrian mountains this weekend, despite pleas from officials for caution on ski slopes, AFP reported.

The embassy reminds Chinese citizens living in and traveling to Austria to pay attention to the danger of outdoor mountain sports in winter. It urged Chinese citizens to make full preparations before the activities, including strengthening safety measures and abiding by security rules.
