(ECNS) -- The Ministry of Commerce supports the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region to give full play to the advantages of its free, open and standardized business environment and join in the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) agreement as soon as possible, Commerce Minister Wang Wentao said Wednesday.
The ministry will support Hong Kong to enhance its role of an international trading center and deepen the smooth flow of trade, Wang told the Seventh Belt and Road Summit via video link.
It is also glad to see Hong Kong participate in important exhibitions like China International Import Expo to develop new trade formats and modes and introduce more international high-quality goods and services to the Chinese mainland market, said Wang.
In addition, the ministry will support Hong Kong to enhance its position as both international finance and shipping centers.
The RCEP agreement, the world's largest trade deal so far, entered into force in January 2022. It covers roughly 30 percent of the world's gross domestic product and population.
