(ECNS) -- China’s environmental protection industry revenue reached 2.18 trillion yuan (about $31.9 billion) in 2021, an 11.8 percent growth year on year, according to an official at a press conference on Tuesday.
As the scale of the environmental protection industry expands, new technologies have been widely used to prevent and control pollution.
Technologies and equipment for ultra-low emissions in thermal power plants, waste incineration, and coal-fired flue gas treatments have reached world-leading levels, and the largest ultra-low emission thermal power plant group in the world has been built in China, said Zhou Shoumin, director at the Department of Science, Technology, and Finance under China's Ministry of Ecology and Environment.
Significant progress has been made in turning environmental monitoring instruments and equipment more automatic, systematic, and smart, said Zou.
China has developed a complete environmental protection industrial chain, covering technology research and development, equipment manufacturing, design and construction, operation and maintenance, investment and operation, comprehensive consultation and other links of pollution control and ecological restoration.
The environmental protection industry system now is rapidly expanding to low-carbon, green, circular development and other fields.
The service mode of the environmental protection industry is constantly innovating, and new generation technologies such as big data, cloud computing and the Internet of Things are accelerating to contribute to environmental protection, Zou said.
