(ECNS) -- Northwest China’s Tibet Autonomous Region has established a therapeutic mechanism that integrates traditional Tibetan medicine with Western medicine to treat patients in the latest surge of COVID-19.
Tibet has reported 160 confirmed cases and 1,326 asymptomatic infections as of Monday afternoon, local authorities said. Five of them are critically ill.
The local health department has brought together experts in respiratory, cardiovascular, imaging and other disciplines to conduct consultations, formulate targeted diagnoses, and treatment plans for each patient.
A total of 1,400 boxes of special drugs (Nematavir tablets/Ritonavir tablets) and 4,000 ml of convalescent plasma for COVID-19 cases have been deployed.
Tibet has also improved the standard of meals for patients to ensure nutrition due to the high altitude, poor natural conditions and high living costs.
Three makeshift hospitals have been built in the cities of Lhasa, Xigaze and Qamdo to accommodate asymptomatic carriers of COVID-19 and those with mild symptoms.
There are 121 high-risk areas and 222 medium-risk areas in the region at present.
