(ECNS) -- Construction began on four temporary community isolation facilities aided by the Chinese central government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region on Tuesday. They are expected to provide about 14 to 17 thousand isolation units.
The isolation facilities in Tsing Yi will be delivered and put into use about one week later.
Two permanent community isolation facilities aided by the central government and built by CSCI began on Saturday. Located at Kai Tak Cruise Terminal and Penny's Bay, the two facilities are expected to provide 9,500 isolation units.
Another five sites will be available for central government-aided community isolation facilities, according to the HKSAR government.
These facilities have taken Hong Kong's situation into consideration and referred to the experiences of Huoshenshan Hospital and Leishenshan Hospital, two specialty field hospitals in Wuhan, as well as that of the Shenzhen International Hotel for pandemic control, according to Yan Jianguo, chairman of China State Construction International Holdings Limited.
