(ECNS) -- The Ministry of Education has called for effective measures to prevent students in primary and secondary school from being exposed to what it calls "harmful apps."
The ministry said teachers are forbidden to recommend apps to students on their own and schools need to have a registration system recording apps used by students. Students should not pay for apps used by the schools, said the directive, and schools also need approval from educational authorities for educational apps that they use.
Some apps that included content containing pornography, violence, gaming and advertisements have made their way into schools. Some teachers were also found to use apps that have paid services to release test scores or rankings, a violation of educational rules, according to the ministry.
Study apps used in schools need to meet the Party's educational policies and measures also need to secure student information and data, it was added.
