(ECNS) - Travel agencies in Hong Kong and the Chinese mainland said the first trip services passing over the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge have already been very popular, the Hong Kong-based newspaper Ta Kung Pao reported.
The 55-km bridge, the longest sea crossing in the world, opened on Tuesday, greatly increasing links in the Pearl River estuary.
Nearly 1,000 tourists have booked trips to the mega-bridge just four days after travel packages by agencies went on sale. Nearly 70 percent of tickets for Hong Kong-Macao coach services were sold out.
China Travel Service Gongbei Port offered trips with prices ranging from 199 yuan ($28.7) to 698 yuan, with the later including a one-day visit to Hong Kong Disneyland Resort. Most of the trips were fully booked, according to the report.
Trips from Hong Kong to other mainland destinations across the mega-bridge were also popular. A deputy general manager at China Travel Service Hong Kong Limited said the first group tour that was offered on Oct. 19, with stops in Zhuhai and Zhongshan, was fully booked in two days. The agency plans more trips to cities west of the Pearl River with at least 3,000 tourists booking its travel products for next two months.
Travel service provider Wing On Travel of Hong Kong said its trip on Tuesday was hugely popular and new routes themed on spa and food will be introduced later.
Hong Kong’s two coach services Wong Leung Pak and One Bus also reported 70 percent of their coach tickets were booked.?
