(ECNS) -- A vocational college in southwest China's Sichuan Province has received positive feedback for its innovative approach to spring break, which encourages students to immerse themselves in nature, explore traditional culture, and pursue personal development through specially designed assignments.

Liu Ping, vice president of Sichuan Southwest Vocational College of Civil Aviation, said in an interview on Tuesday that the spring break initiative had exceeded expectations, both in student participation and educational outcomes.

On March 24, the college creatively issued a notice through an aerial drone light show, announcing a week-long spring break from March 31 to April 6, which coincided with the Qingming Festival. All faculty, staff, and students were encouraged to "put down their books and work, take along family and friends, and experience the vitality of spring."

"Some students explored intangible cultural heritage activities such as traditional hairpin making, bamboo weaving, and cloisonné enamel art," Liu said. "Students from the drone technology program traveled across the country and submitted vivid footage showcasing China's natural beauty." She noted that many students also utilized artificial intelligence to generate visually compelling images and videos based on their experiences.

Student Huang Xiangyu said he was deeply inspired by a self-driving trip to western Sichuan Province during the break. "The scenery was stunning," he said. "This kind of break is especially meaningful for today's university students. It not only helps us relax but also expands our knowledge. During the trip, I learned a great deal about Tibetan customs and culture."

While some students traveled, others used the time to enhance their academic and personal skills. Wang Binnan, a student at the college, dedicated her time to studying for the Mandarin proficiency test and preparing for the College English Test Band 4 (CET-4). "I wanted to improve my language skills and prepare thoroughly for future job interviews," she said.

According to the college, it will continue to explore the educational potential of spring break, integrating elements of emotional, lifestyle, disciplinary, and life-value education to support students' all-round development.
