(ECNS) -- A new high-speed maritime route connecting Shanghai, Tianjin, and Guangzhou officially commenced operations on Tuesday at Shanghai's Luojing Port, marking an important advancement in regional logistics efficiency and significantly reducing transportation costs.
The route is a joint effort between Shanghai Port, Tianjin Port, Guangzhou Port, and Antong International Logistics.
Utilizing 15,000-ton and 35,000-ton vessels, the route enables transit times of just 3 to 4 days between Tianjin-Shanghai and Shanghai-Guangzhou. Compared with traditional land transportation, this maritime service is expected to lower costs by approximately 65 percent per container.
The initiative promotes real-time data sharing among Shanghai, Tianjin, Guangzhou ports, and Antong International Logistics, enhancing vessel scheduling and operational efficiency. Additionally, a rapid response mechanism has been established to promptly address emergencies.
This new maritime service is poised to transform individual logistics hubs into regional economic drivers, optimizing resource allocation and significantly improving container handling efficiency.
Through the collaborative data platform, customers can access up-to-date logistics information, facilitating improved coordination between trucking and barge services. This enhanced capability is crucial for supporting the economic growth of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, the Yangtze River Delta, and the Greater Bay Area, according to Zhou Wei, general manager of Luodong Company under the Shanghai International Port Group.
