Death toll of stampede in Seoul rises to 154

(ECNS) -- The death toll of the stampede accident at Itaewon in Seoul during Halloween gatherings has risen to 154 as of 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, according to Yonhap News Agency.

At least 26 foreign nationals are among the dead, which consists of 98 females and 56 males.

Han Duck-soo, the Premier of South Korea, on Sunday announced the country’s emergency response to the stampede disaster.

South Korea has officially entered a weeklong national mourning period for the victims of the stampede and the government has declared the district of Yongsan-gu, where Itaewon is located, a special disaster area.
