Southeastern European countries call for acceleration of European integration

Leaders from southeastern European countries have called for the acceleration of the European integration process and voiced commitment to jointly enhance energy security, and address security issues and climate change.

The leaders reached the consensus in a declaration of the South-East European Cooperation Process (SEECP) summit which ended at Thessaloniki city in northern Greece on Friday.

Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis expressed confidence that there is momentum for closer cooperation in many sectors among countries participating in the summit.

Ten leaders of southeastern European countries and three foreign ministers endorsed the SEECP Thessaloniki summit declaration.

Greece is to hand over the rotating chairmanship of SEECP to Montenegro as of July 1.
