Jimmy Lai, an instigator of Hong Kong riots, appeared in court again on Friday along with 19 other defendants for their involvement in an illegal assembly in 2020.
Lai was accused of inciting others to participate in an unauthorized assembly in Victoria Park last year, and people standing trial Friday also included Yeung Sum and Lee Cheuk-yan, according to the West Kowloon Magistrates' Courts.
While two of the defendants prepared to confess their offenses, eight made pleas of not guilty and the rest ten people including Lai have yet to decide. The court adjourned the case and will deal with their pleas, respectively.
In addition to the defendants standing trial Friday, there were six people also involved in the case, including Joshua Wong and three others, who have been sentenced to four to ten months in jail.
The rest two, including Nathan Law, have fled Hong Kong. Arrest warrants have been issued for them.
