The chief executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Carrie Lam has thanked the city's residents for voting in an orderly manner in the district council elections.
She expressed hope that peace over the past weekend was not just for the elections but a voice from people that they do not want violence.
Lam also asked protesters still at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University to leave peacefully and safely as soon as possible.
