South Korea is allowing its commercial airlines to give flight data to Chinese authorities when flying through the East China Sea Air Defense Identification Zone.[Special coverage]

The country's Yonhap News Agency says airlines including Korean Air and Asiana have reported their flight plans to China after the instruction from the transport ministry. Earlier, the Republic of Korea demanded its aviation companies ignore China's ADIZ.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry says reporting flight plans "is conducive for China to preserve its territorial and air security, and for flight safety."
