Senior officials of China and Mauritania held talks in Beijing on Thursday, pledging to enhance military ties.

As an important component of bilateral ties, military relations have developed soundly, witnessing cooperation in delegation exchanges, personnel training and equipment and technology, said Fang Fenghui, chief of general staff of the People's Liberation Army of China.

Fang told visiting chief of general staff of the National Army of Mauritania, Mohamed Ould Mohemd Ahmed, that the Chinese military is willing to deepen exchanges and cooperation with Mauritania's armed forces.

Mohamed said that Mauritania, as one of the first African countries to establish diplomatic ties with China, has long maintained friendly ties with China. Grateful to China's assistance and support, Mauritania is ready to further the partnership in personnel training and equipment and technology.
