China, US naval ships open to public

The guided-missile cruiser Shiloh of the United States Navy, which is paying its first goodwill visit to Zhanjiang city of south China's Guangdong province, and the guided-missile destroyer "Lanzhou" of the Navy of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) held a warship open-day on June 1, and more than 400 representatives of local residents of Zhanjiang boarded the two warships for visit.

During their first visit to Zhanjiang city, the U.S. sailors who came to Zhanjiang with the Shiloh participated in a series of friendly exchange activities including visiting the Chinese naval destroyer "Lanzhou", having football and basketball matches with the soldiers of the South China Sea Fleet of the PLA Navy, and visiting the Zhanjiang Normal University.

The guided-missile cruiser Shiloh (CG-67) was launched in September 1990 and commissioned in July 1992. The warship has a length of 172.8 meters, a beam of 16.8 meters, a standard displacement of 7,652 tons and a full-load displacement of 9,516 tons. It is the 21st Ticonderoga-class missile cruiser equipped with the Aegis combat system of the US Navy.
