A Foreign Ministry spokeswoman on Friday confirmed that Chinese surveillance vessels are still patrolling the Diaoyu Islands.
Spokeswoman Hua Chunying made the remarks when asked whether Chinese official ships have stopped traveling through the area since Japan's House of Representatives election.
The State Oceanic Administration has stated that Chinese surveillance ships entered territorial waters around the Diaoyu Islands Friday morning.
