Chinese naval exercises in Pacific are routine

The naval squads of the Chinese People's Liberation Army are to conduct annual routine exercises in the west Pacific in early February, an official with Chinese Defense Ministry press office said on Friday.

In response to Japanese media reports on Chinese naval squads' passing through waters between Okinawa and Miyakojima, the official said, according to international law and practices, China enjoys the freedom of navigation in relevant waters.
