On January 7, 2012, Egyptian transport company sent an email to the Chinese peacekeeping engineering detachment, asking for help with the construction of board houses and equipment training field if it was convenient.
Upon receiving the email, the Party committee of the detachment immediately decided to help the Egyptian side and said that the construction should be conducted according to the Chinese standard.
On the second day, led by the squadron commander Wei Jianchang, the construction and installation squadron of the Chinese engineering detachment started building board houses in the Egyptian barracks and renovating the cement facility plant. Despite the dry weather and harsh natural environment, the officers and men of the detachment never left their working site.
During the construction, the Chinese officers and men set up lines and erected the mark posts to strictly comply with the Chinese standard. All of the Egyptian officers and men on the site expressed admiration for and gratitude to the Chinese officers and men.
