Gansu kindergarten faces additive probe after blood lead levels alarm parents
A kindergarten in Maiji district of Tianshui, Gansu province, is suspected of using additives in violation of regulations, resulting in abnormal blood lead levels in some children, according to a report from China Central Television on Thursday.
The local market supervision administration and public security bureau received the information from the public on Tuesday.
A team composed of relevant experts and authorities has been formed to conduct epidemiological tracing, medical support, and investigation.
Each child is receiving targeted medical services, nutritional intervention, and psychological counseling, the report said.
According to local authorities, the person in charge of the kindergarten has been placed under investigation, and relevant departments responsible for oversight will face strict accountability. Other related investigations are proceeding in an orderly manner.
