(Ecns.cn)--As usual, food is an indispensable theme in the country whenever a holiday comes around. This year, as the 7-day-long National Day dawns in just 2 days, grand feasts are certainly awaiting—most of which are definitely inviting, but may also be a bit greasy.

However unhealthy, we tend to eat more, a lot more during vacations. This is particularly common in China, not simply because we have so many choices on the menu, but more because of the culture. During holidays, it is customary to take the opportunity to unite with family and friends, and eating is what we do when we gather together.

However, this can be harmful to the health, not to mention the diseases that may come following such irregular diets.

    Holiday diseases

A big dinner during autumn time can trigger acute gastritis, especially among vulnerable groups who have the bad habit of getting inebriated.

Filthy food can also cause diseases. In the preliminary stages, it shows up with symptoms of discomfort in the stomach, nausea, and vomiting. In the worst cases, severe symptoms can include haematemesis, dehydration, and even a coma.

In addition, bacillary dysentery is another annoying trouble that commonly harasses over-joyful people during the holiday season. Overeating and exhausted tourists in particular, are exposed to this trouble.

Here are some tips to survive the holiday meals.

Tip one: do not starve before dinner

This tip reminds those who have plans of dinner parties to have some control of their appetite. Low-calorie snacks or fruits can be eaten about one hour before the meal. It will send signals to the brain that you're full and not in need of so much food. Otherwise, you may sit down to a holiday meal ravenous, and that could spell disaster.

Never linger in the kitchen or near the refrigerator. When seated at the dinner table, eat only what you really want to eat and pass up the rest, especially those fatty delicacies. Pay more attention to homemade veggies: they can be as delicious as meat.

Tip two: do not eat unhygienic snacks

Travelers may come across the added trouble of too many local snacks putting extra pressure on the stomach. This can sometimes cause acute gastritis when the snacks grabbed on a random snack car are not hygienic.

Instead of "losing control," it is recommended to add more food that can moisten the lungs into the travel diet. Soy bean milk, tomatoes, and pears, just to name a few, are good choices. On the other hand, they make you satisfied with the process of chewing.
