New species dating back 423 million years discovered in Chongqing(1/3)

Photo shows the macro photograph of Biancheng fish fossil. The BianCheng fish fossil was only 2cm long, and the whole fish was probably about 4cm long when alive. Its jaw represents a newly discovered transition state between the jaws and teeth of modern fishes and the primitive Placodermi, providing important fossil evidence for the origin and evolution of the jaws and teeth of modern jawed animals, including humans.
